How do I delete my Claude conversations?

You can delete chats one at a time, or wipe everything at once. Deletion is permanent and immediately hides the chat from every member of the account.

Delete a single chat

1. Open claude.ai and expand the sidebar; find the conversation under "Chats / Recents".
2. Hover over its title and click the "…" icon that appears on the right.
3. Choose "Delete" and confirm in the popup.

On a phone (mobile browser or the Claude app), long-press the conversation and pick delete from the menu.

You can also delete from inside an open conversation via the menu next to its title at the top.

Delete everything at once

1. Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner → "Settings".
2. Open the "Data / Privacy" section.
3. Find "Delete all chats", click it, and confirm.

Warning: on a shared account this erases *every member's* conversations, not just yours. Please never use it here — stick to deleting the chats you created yourself.

What deletion does and doesn't do

• It takes effect instantly, the chat leaves the sidebar, and there is no undo.
• Chats inside a Project must be deleted from that Project's own conversation list.
• Anything you already copied out of an Artifact or downloaded stays on your device — deletion only affects the account.
