Which models do I get with Gemini Pro, and what are the limits?
With AI Pro active, the model picker gains advanced options and unlocks Deep Research, longer context, and image/video generation. Usage isn't unlimited — heavy use or peak hours can hit temporary caps.
Available models and features
In the model picker above the chat box at gemini.google.com:
- 2.5 Flash: everyday questions, fast, with the most generous limits.
- 2.5 Pro: exclusive to AI Pro — stronger reasoning, coding, and long-document analysis, with a much larger context window (upload long PDFs or multiple files).
- Deep Research: give it a research topic and it browses the web and produces a cited report; each run takes a few minutes.
- Image/video generation: describe what you want directly in chat to generate images; video generation (Veo) comes with a daily allowance.
How the limits work
- Google doesn't publish exact numbers. The Pro model, Deep Research, and video generation each have daily or rolling-window caps; when you hit one, Gemini asks you to try later or temporarily falls back to Flash.
- On a shared account, the quota is pooled across all users, so caps are easier to hit during peak hours.
When you hit a cap
- Switch to 2.5 Flash for routine tasks.
- Wait a few hours — quotas restore on a rolling basis, generally within 24 hours.
- Break long tasks into smaller pieces and avoid unnecessary retries to cut consumption.
