【Google Account】How do I change the password and recovery email?

Step-by-step path through the Security page at myaccount.google.com to set a new password and your own recovery email.

How do I change the password and recovery email?

Both changes live under myaccount.google.com → "Security" and take about three minutes total. The steps below use a desktop browser; the mobile browser path is identical.

Change the password

  1. While signed in to the account, open myaccount.google.com.
  2. Click "Security" in the left-hand menu.
  3. Under "How you sign in to Google", click "Password".
  4. Enter the current password to confirm it's you (on the first change, that's the password from your order page).
  5. Type the new password twice → click "Change password".
  6. After the success message, older sessions on other devices get signed out — that's expected.

Change the recovery email

  1. Still on the "Security" page, scroll to "Ways to verify it's you" (or "How we can verify it's you").
  2. Click "Recovery email".
  3. Re-enter your password when prompted.
  4. Delete the existing address, enter an email inbox you use regularly → click "Save".
  5. Google emails a verification link to the new address. Open that email and click the link — the change only counts once the status shows "Verified".

Common questions

  • Can't find the "Security" menu: make sure you're at myaccount.google.com, not inside Gmail. In the mobile app, tap your avatar (top right) → "Manage your Google Account" → the "Security" tab.
  • Verification email never arrives: check the new inbox's spam folder, wait five minutes, then hit "Resend" on the edit screen.
  • Current password rejected: the password was already changed or copied wrong — re-check the order page first. If it still fails, contact FoxVIP live support with your order number.

Once both are done, turn on 2-Step Verification next — the full checklist is in "How do I keep my account secure after signing in?"
