GPT Plus
【GPT Plus】Are there usage limits on a shared account?
Yes — model message caps are pooled account-wide, peak hours can mean slowdowns and queuing, and account settings are strictly hands-off. Here's the full list.
Are there usage limits on a shared account?
Yes. The limits come from two places: OpenAI's own caps on every Plus account (which several users now split), and FoxVIP's house rules that keep the account working for everyone.
1. Quota limits (OpenAI side)
- GPT-4o and the o-series models have message caps, counted by OpenAI over rolling time windows (e.g., a set number of messages per 3 hours). The cap is shared by the whole account, not per person — if someone just burned through it, you wait for the window to reset.
- When you hit the cap, the interface tells you the model is temporarily unavailable. You can switch to the base model (GPT-4o mini) in the meantime or wait for the reset.
- Image generation, advanced voice, and deep research features have their own official quotas, which drain faster when shared.
2. Concurrency and speed
- When several users run long conversations simultaneously, replies can slow down noticeably, occasionally with queuing.
- Peak hours (roughly 8 pm–midnight Beijing time) show the biggest swings. Schedule time-critical tasks around them.
3. House rules (FoxVIP side)
These actions affect everyone else on the account and count as violations:
- Changing the password or email, or enabling two-factor authentication;
- Modifying or wiping account-level settings (Memory, Custom Instructions, custom GPTs);
- Creating API keys or connecting third-party apps with the account;
- Deleting other users' conversations (yours are always yours to delete).
Violations that break the account can lead to order termination without refund. If the limits cramp your workflow, upgrading to a dedicated account solves most of them.
