【iCloud+】Why can't I join the family group? Other common causes
Beyond region issues, joining can fail because you are in another family, hit the once-a-year switch limit, use a child account, or the invite expired.
Why can't I join the family group? Other common causes
If your region is fine but joining still fails, you've likely hit one of Apple's other Family Sharing limits. Work through this list in order.
1. You're already in another family
An Apple ID can only belong to one family at a time. Leave the old one first: Settings → [your name] → "Family Sharing" → tap your own name → "Leave Family", then accept the new invitation.
2. You've already switched families this year
Apple allows an Apple ID to switch family groups only once every 12 months. If you left one family and joined another within the past year, the system will refuse another switch — wait out the year or use a different Apple ID in the same region.
3. Child account / age restrictions
Accounts for children under 13 can't leave a family on their own; the original organizer has to transfer the child account to the new family. If your account's birth date was mistakenly set to a minor's, correct it first at account.apple.com.
4. The invitation expired
Family invitations are time-limited; an expired one shows as invalid when opened. Request a resend from your FoxVIP order page and accept promptly.
5. Not signed in to iCloud, or iOS too old
Open Settings and confirm your name shows at the top — if it says "Sign in to your iPhone", you're not signed in. Also update to the latest iOS before retrying.
6. You already have your own iCloud+ subscription
This doesn't block joining, but iOS will ask whether to switch to the family plan. Choose the family storage, then go to Settings → [your name] → "Subscriptions" and cancel your personal iCloud+ renewal so you don't pay twice.
If it still fails after all six checks, screenshot the exact error and contact FoxVIP live support with your order number.
