No — only content marked Included with Prime is covered; any paid rental, purchase, or channel subscription on the shared account is strictly forbidden.

Can I rent or buy titles on a shared Prime Video account?

No paid transactions, ever. Your service covers the streaming content included with Prime membership. Rentals (Rent), purchases (Buy), and channel add-ons (Channels) all cost extra and are strictly forbidden on the shared account.

Telling covered content apart

  • Watchable (covered): the thumbnail or detail page carries the Included with Prime label / blue Prime check, and the page shows a direct Play button.
  • Not covered (costs money): the detail page shows Rent $X.XX, Buy $X.XX, or "Subscribe to [Channel]" buttons.

To browse only covered content, use the Prime tab on the home page, or the "Included with Prime" filter in search results.

Why purchases are strictly forbidden

  1. The payment method on the account belongs to the account owner. Charging it is using someone else's payment details, which immediately trips Amazon's fraud review and can freeze the account.
  2. If the account gets locked over an unauthorized purchase, every user loses access, the responsible order is terminated without compensation, and the cost falls on whoever made the charge.
  3. Adding your own credit card isn't allowed either — the card would attach to the shared account and expose your payment details to other users.

What if I really want a rental-only title?

  • Rent it on your own personal Amazon account — rentals don't require a Prime membership.
  • Or wait: catalogs rotate monthly, and titles regularly move into the Prime-included lineup.
