【TV Companion】How do I use Apple TV+ and Apple Music?
Sign in inside the TV app for Apple TV+ and inside the Music app for Apple Music — and understand exactly why iCloud is off-limits.
How do I use Apple TV+ and Apple Music?
Each service has its own door: Apple TV+ lives in the TV app, Apple Music in the Music app, both using the same account from your order. You always sign in inside the app — never through the system-level Apple Account in Settings.
Watching Apple TV+
- iPhone / iPad / Mac — open the TV app → tap the profile icon in the top right → Sign In → enter the credentials from your order page. The Apple TV+ section appears on the home tab; pick any original and press play.
- Apple TV box — Settings → Users & Accounts → add the account as a new user, switch to it, then open the TV app.
- Smart TVs, consoles, browsers — use the built-in Apple TV app or go to tv.apple.com and sign in with the same account. Some TVs show a pairing code; approve it on your phone as prompted.
Listening on Apple Music
- Open the Music app (Android users can install the Apple Music app).
- Tap the profile icon → Sign In → same account.
- Listen Now, Browse, and the full catalog unlock, with lossless audio and live lyrics. The Library is shared across members of the account, so name any playlists you create after yourself to keep things tidy.
Why iCloud is strictly off-limits
This is the single most important TV Companion rule, so here it is in full:
- The iCloud entry is the item with your name at the very top of Settings (Apple Account). Putting the shared account there can merge your photos and contacts with strangers' data — and worse, Find My can place an Activation Lock on your device that is very hard to remove.
- The safe entries are the profile-icon sign-ins inside the TV and Music apps, plus Settings → App Store → Media & Purchases. These only handle media and purchases and never touch your personal data.
Need a six-digit code during sign-in? Fetch it via Get Verification Code / Login Info on your FoxVIP order page. For playback or sign-in errors, see "My device won't sign in or activate — what now?".
